Question about using wi-fi

Hey guys,

I recently moved in with a couple of friends, and I'm using their Wi-Fi on my computer. Even after having my own router for four years, I still know very little about wireless Internet. Is there a way that my friends could see the websites I visit since I'm using their wi-fi account? If so, is there a way I can prevent this?

I promise I'm not doing anything malicious! lol. I just want my privacy with regard to certain things.

I suppose, but I doubt it.
They'd need to be geeky.
If they sit at your computer and it isn't password protected, sure.
I'd not worry about it at all.
If you have a security program, that will cover you.

And I doubt file sharing is active so I wouldn't worry.

Even with file sharing, you can decide what gets shared and what doesn't.
If you're worried about privacy, well, they could hid a baby monitor in your room and listen to all your conversations.
Place a camera high in the left corner and watch you get dressed and undressed.
They could go through your trash, sneak in after you're gone and finger your underwear. Stuff like that.
Just had to warn you.

Yeah, you definitely don't have to worry about it for the most part unless one of them is a computer genius who scopes the stuff that goes on via the network at any given time. Just, as was said, make sure that you don't have any of the file sharing stuff across a network enabled, and you should be good.

Becky, don't worry. File sharing isn't automatically set to give everybody access to your stuff. You're fine.

Open your systems trey.
Go down to were you find your internet or network access.
Click that one.
Click network and sharing center.
Tab until you find home group and sharing options.
That's the basics.
But, it is correct, it isn't on by default, so nothing you need worry about, but check if you like.

You could just type home group and sharing options in your search box too.
